Videography: Geary County Unified School District
The challenge
Great things were happening every day at Geary County USD 475 (USD 475). The district just needed a better way to put the spotlight on them. As a home to a large number of military families, the district needed to clearly communicate its identity to newcomers and introduce families to the unique opportunities for students in Geary County schools, so it partnered with CESO Communications to produce a video.
Our approach
This video needed to be big. It needed to convey the story of USD 475 in a concise and captivating way. CESO Communications drafted the script with a student-centered focus, settling on the district’s commonly used phrase, “Thrive in 475,” and collaborated with the district to identify staff and students to feature. The CESO team traveled to the district to shoot the video and completed all editing, including animations. The final product opens on a handful of students facing the camera, several of whom indicate interests they can pursue within the district, such as cooking and welding. One student kickstarts the video by posing the question, “What does it mean to thrive in 475?” before an energetic transition into the rest of the experience.
Our impact
The Thrive in 475 video features students from various grade levels, teachers, and the superintendent, highlighting how Geary County serves students in all grades and prepares them for life after graduation. With crisp, centered shots of the district’s facilities, insights into hands-on learning experiences and an emphasis on the district’s commitment to its military families through its Purple Star distinction, the final product showcases the district’s pride and puts its best foot forward. The video was used in communications to launch the 2024-25 school year, and has since been incorporated into district events, superintendent presentations and more.
