Jill Filer
After spending 32 years in education in Harrisonville, Missouri — first as a high school journalism teacher and then as Director of Communications — Jill joined the CESO team in July 2025. With 24 years of experience as a one-person communications department and a passion for supporting superintendents and small districts, she brings a deep understanding of the full spectrum of school communications, including strategic planning, crisis communications, social media and website management, internal communications, superintendent transitions, and staff training.
A long-time member of both the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA), Jill has been recognized for her leadership and service. She’s received honors such as the NSPRA Front Runner Award and MOSPRA Professional of the Year, as well as mentoring and service awards including the NSPRA Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Award and MOSPRA’s Distinguished Service and Go-To Colleague Awards. She also led the NSPRA Small District Superintendent Academy and facilitated numerous strategic communications workshops across Missouri.
In her free time, Jill enjoys traveling and attending sporting events with her family. She’s an avid soccer fan, and beaches are her happy place.
